Shoreacres will be preserved until the Cheltenham Festival after his brave effort in defeat at Ascot last Saturday. The reliable nine-year-old turned in his usual game effort when second to Smad Place in the Grade Two Holloway's Hurdle over just shy of two and a half miles.

George Charlton has Cheltenham Festival aspirations for Knockara Beau following his third-placed finish in the Argento Chase. Although the nine-year-old did not jump with as much verve as connections might have wished, a second-fence mishap did him no favours.

CAPTAIN CONAN HEADS TO IRELAND
Nicky Henderson has confirmed Captain Conan will run in the Deloitte Novice Hurdle at Leopardstown on Sunday. His French import won the Tolworth Hurdle on his British debut and the trainer will use the weekend's race to determine whether he's ready for Cheltenham.
